Don’t you just love pretty activewear? Me too! But apart from looks, there are several other factors to consider when choosing which type of activewear is right for you:
Functionality
Workout wear should give you the functionality you need to be able to train without having to think of your clothes too much. If you do high intensity workouts, a good feature for your workout clothes might be to keep you as dry as possible (moisture-wicking fabric) so that you can do your workout without having to deal with clothes that soak up all your sweat and make you feel uncomfortable.
Comfort
Obviously, it is important that you feel comfortable in your workout clothes. If you have ever been in a situation where you’ve had to constantly pull up your leggings, adjust your bra straps, try to prevent camel toe situations or worry about your leggings being see-through while working out, you know that there’s no better feeling than moving around in peace without having to deal with those issues. Whether you like high- or low-waisted leggings, tight or wide and flowing tops, go with whatever you feel comfortable wearing.
Suitability
The workout clothes you choose should be suitable for your preferred workout style. If you lift weights, for example, you might look for leggings that are squat-proof. If you do yoga which includes a lot of inversions, maybe a wide top that keeps falling down over your head whenever you get upside down is not the right choice and you’d prefer to wear something that stays in place. If you run outside, you might consider clothes that are suitable for the current weather conditions.
